-“Thank you for the Hot Wheels, Grandma,” and little Jason dutifully plants a kiss on her cheek.
-“You’re welcome, honey.”- Blog - So I heard the one GOP member that voted for Universal Healthcare was bought off
Okay.....so whether you are a Dem or a Rep, left or right, it has to make you question what is going on when you hear something like this. Now....I don't know all the fine details on this but I heard that the GOP rep that voted on Saturday for Universal Healthcare reform was offerred a "forgiving" of the debt down in Louisiana for reconstruction after the Hurricane in exchange for consideration on this bill. This scares me..... Let me know what you think!

How High Is Your Pain Tolerance When It Comes to Stress?
Did you ever play the game when you were a kid, the one to see how far you could bend back your fingers without giving up in pain? How about allowing a relative or friend to keep hitting you harder and harder to see how long you could take it, without giving up? In both of these cases, the more pain you could tolerate, the stronger you were viewed. We all tried this at one point or another so that we wouldn’t feel or be called a wimp.

"Back to School" is Not Just for the Kids
The fall season always renews my thirst for learning, probably because it signals a time of change…the crisp coolness of the air, the vibrant colors of the leaves, and the new school schedules for my kids. It compels me to think that I should be learning something new too, just as they are. Well, one of the things I have learned in the past couple years is how much of an impact dads have on their kids’ school success.

VICTORIA (HAS NO) SECRETS
When did it disappear? Some say with Elvis’ gyrating hips; others say Englebert Humperdink’s bra-throwing fans; others accuse the pill, then abortion, sex education, and Helen Gurley Brown’s Cosmopolitan magazine. Others say it went away with Twiggy’s just-below-the-butt mini-skirts; others blame Brittney Spears and the spaghetti-strap set. It is the natural virtue of sexual modesty --something foreign to our world of Bratz and Barbies.

The Miracle of Price
I was thrilled when a group of my friends formed a book group to learn more about economics, history, and politics. We are currently reading Basic Economics by Thomas Sowell. We read one to three chapters at a time before discussing them, since we expect most books on these subjects to be difficult, confusing, and dull. Not at all with Sowell’s book! And what great timing considering the current state of our economy.

The Basics of Body Image
As a doctor or naturopathy, my patients’ concerns range from serious chronic disease to aging. I am fortunate that the majority of my practice is comprised of intelligent consumers that look for wellness through natural healing modalities.

When asked what wellness means, many define this concept as looking good and feeling positive about themselves. Nonetheless, whether I talk to a woman concerned about gracefully navigating mid-life or a teenager who doesn’t want to go to school because her face is riddled with acne, my focus is the same:- PATRIOTISM AND POSTERITY
Americans elected our 44th president in November. It made me wonder about patriotism and nationalism. What is the difference?

Passionate about Belly Dancing
Passion radiates from Christina King when she talks about belly dancing. King is one of three directors of the Chicago-based Blue Lotus Tribe, an up-and-coming force in the tribal bellydance world. King had been fascinated with belly dancing since she was a little girl but her first lessons didn’t come until she was college. And then, belly dancing was a hobby inside a hobby. King had become involved in The Society for Creative Anachronism (SCA), a medieval reenactment organization. She took lessons from a woman at one of the events and then began dancing at SCA events.
